SM's done

I finally got round to making the Mk2 SM's.
Only a few minor tweaks but cosmetically the same on the outside, they look smaller in black too not sure if thats a good or bad thing !

I might be thinking of doing some 2x12" versions.

I will put some smarrt plots up of the response what I get time
Its also time to make some stands for them too.

The 118's are all built and painted too, just waiting to the grills to arrive and will put some pictures up.

They work like a mother fucker!

Both SMs built and the stereo results are very good.
The dynamics are beyond my expectations and the over all quality and volume, good lord theres loads of volume

Time to get them painted and looking purrty.

They are a little larger that I thought so going to have to make some speaker stands for them.
Well Im more thinking a shelf behind the desk, held up by two for four pillars 100mmx120mm that will be filled with sand. The shelf will be 100mm deep also sand filled, the bases will have 4 bolts on the bottom so they be levelled up on our cobble floor.

Will be building my 18" subs at the same time I cant wait.

SM's build

One SM built and the results are positive, the second is well on its way.

Im made up that all the time I spent making jigs worked out well, I screwed a frame to my work bench leaving the top open so I can slide each piece in.  The jigs were screwed to the frame allowing me to do all the cuts only having to mark one piece

The processing still needs a-little tweaking but solid bottom end present mids and nice clean highs, Smaart is giving me a response of 32Hz - 14Khz +-4db but need a more dampened room to accurately measure.
I'm going to be running it 3 way active with about 3K of amps, this gives you great dynamic range with plenty of headroom.

Been listening to Everything Everythings new album and Coldplay parchutes this week watched Django's Revenge swell killer soundtrack as are all Tarinteno films.
